Women read online reviews and men don’t
Don’t think Facebook “likes” and customer reviews are all that important? Then take note of the results from this year’s Global Consumer Shopping Habits survey conducted by ChannelAdvisor. Ninety percent of those surveyed said they read product reviews from other shoppers before buying a product and 83 percent said reviews affect their decision to buy the item. More than half (53 percent) of people said comments posted on companies’ social media pages also play a role in buying decisions.
But now, consider this piece of research: women read online reviews and men don’t. Research by Postcode Anywhere revealed that 36 percent more women than men viewed reviews as “very important” when shopping online. Similarly, 22 percent more men than women classified customer reviews as “not important at all” or “more unimportant than important”.
A study by global technology company NCR Corporation has shown UK consumers are embracing click and collect, with over half (55 percent) opting to use click and collect because they don’t want to pay for home deliveries. More than two fifths (44 percent) want the item as soon as possible or find shopping in bricks-and-mortar stores more convenient (43 percent) and 27 percent find it is not convenient to get items delivered at home or work.
